The Mystery of Victim Blaming
On June 27, 2015, two striking public incidents happened in Taiwan — one is the explosion of the “Color Party” at Formosa Fun Coast, and the other is the rape case of the Psychology Department at FuJen Catholic University due to excessive alcohol drinking. Except the overwhelming shock among the public, the criticism and punishment against the relevant parties, there was also a strong tendency in our society to “blame the victims," such as “Why they've been to such a dangerous place!", “Why they had to drink at all? That might made people seduced and do something bad!" ...all the public opinions have led to serious psychological trauma and self-doubt of the victims. But we know that: For these victims, what they really need is nonjudgmental listening and support from the society rather than punishing the perpetrators. So we made this video, try to stop the criticizing from the internet.
